Feelds is the project of Melbourne / Naarm-based songwriter and producer, James Seymour, who has an aptitude for creating intricate, multi-faceted worlds from even the simplest of ideas.
Singles, ‘Kill The Moon’ & ‘Bloody Mary’ earned Feelds rotation on triple J and Double J on the lead up to 2019’s independently released, debut album, ‘Cut Your Teeth’. Inspired by old photo albums of his parents’ former lives as Karate champions, ‘Cut Your Teeth’ truly set the foundations for Feelds as a self-produced artist – exploring themes of nostalgia and family within the walls of thoughtfully unique instrumentation.
A 2020 lockdown project saw Feelds collaborate with fellow Melbourne artist, Merpire, on a one off EP under the name, Wilson’s Prom. The EP garnered praise from triple J Unearthed and NME, whilst also finding its way abroad, becoming the #1 most added on the North American College and Community Radio charts in the U.S.
Sparking a desire to collaborate more within the Feelds project, James began writing with the likes of Julia Deans, S.A.B and Mimi Gilbert to piece together his sophomore album, which is due for release in 2023 and also features vocals from Allysha Joy and Elizabeth M. Drummond.
The genre blurring next chapter for Feelds is James at his most self-assured and magnetic, with a magnitude of layers that reveal themselves more and more with each listen.
