Melbourne’s Neighbourhood Youth have made a habit of demanding attention with each release – from the short and sharp, ‘Stay Safe’ to the towering presence of ‘Brother Walks’.
With a dynamic and commanding live presence, the band have lit up festivals like St Kilda Festival and Beyond The Valley, as well as sharing the stage with the likes of Turnstile (USA), Turnover (USA), WAAX, Press Club and more.
The band’s debut album, ‘Long Year’ is a reflection of their dedication to their music; taking time to get the album perfect, despite the ever-changing, life hurdles. Recorded live at Aviary Studios with long time pal, Greg Rietwyk (Press Club), ‘Long Year’ is hard-hitting, reflective and hopeful, often all at the same time.
With singles, ‘Hugo’, ‘Stay Safe‘ and ‘Aim For The Head‘ doing the rounds at triple J, Unearthed, FBi and 3RRR, ‘Long Year’ has made a lasting impact with it’s stadium ready guitar pallet and pin-point lyricism. Selling out Melbourne’s Stay Gold in celebration of the release, the band’s debut stamps an incredible, musical bond between the long time friends.
